If you take the Warner Bros Studio Tour you might get to see some places in the backlots where the show has been filmed but they never open up the sets in the soundstages for viewing. However, if you’re a fan of The Big Bang Theory (and old Sheldon) you can see Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment and even sit in Sheldon’s spot. I grew up a big fan of Hilary Duff and always watched her movies. So when a friend of mine posted a picture of this house I knew I had to see it in person. It was a very short drive from Casa Walsh and was close to Eaton Canyon where I was hiking later that day.

Jim also suspects that Muriel is cheating on him when Bill spends a night in the house during a violent thunderstorm, with Muriel being the only other person present. While touring an open house with longtime clients in Los Angeles’ historic Hancock Park neighborhood, designer Jake Arnold knew they had stumbled upon a gem. Though it was in need of updating, the Tudor-style home with quirky details charmed the group. It was also a welcome change of pace compared to the clients’ single-story residence. The house from Young Sheldon is not in Texas, it is a short drive from the Warner Bros Studio where the tv series is filmed.
Will Rogers State Park
I have not been able to confirm if the grounds are still open to the public during COVID 19. The Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills feels like the perfect home to kick off this list with. Visiting the grounds of this beautiful mansion is a favorite of both locals and tourists.

Famous TV and Movie Houses in Los Angeles
I am really looking forward to checking this one out in person in the future. My grandfather built a home in 1942 in a similar style, albeit much smaller. Interestingly, this house and many like it in the neighborhood lacked protection over the front door – just like the Blanding’s house. Odd, considering we lived in an area that receives snow, as well as rain. There are windows in the side of the house now, but the little covered porch on the side of the house is now a bay window. And instead of being surrounded by a manicured lawn, the house sits on a desert landscape.

You used to be able to tour the house but now the new owners only make it available to the public during special events. This is the only Neutra designed home that is available for tours. It was first built in 1932 for Neutra and his family. It is called the research house because it was built with a loan from a patron. A fire destroyed most of the house in 1963 and was rebuilt by Neutra’s son with the Dad’s oversight. Yes things certainly changed ( I wanted to live in that house ), but its great its real and still standing.
Filming Locations From The OC That Fans Should Visit
And yet there’s no denying that it’s the same house. Gone are the shutters and the consistent color scheme. Today the house features wood siding on the top half and a small portico has been added over the front porch. The house is still standing in the very spot where it was built for filming.
Doheny Mansion
Over the years the color of the house has changed several times, the white picket fence is gone, but the unique shape is still recognizable. The House from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure is located at 1848 Oxley Street in South Pasadena. I wish I could visit the iconic Braverman house that Zeke and Camile owned on Parenthood but that was built on the Universal Backlots. However, there are locations where the many other characters lived that can be visited. This Pasadena home is where Adam & Kristina raise their three children on the show.

You can park in one of the beach parking lots and walk down to the home or park by one of the neighbors. PCH is a really busy road so it won’t always feel easy to stop for the photo. In 1974, Fox sold the ranch to the state of California. The land is now part of Malibu Creek State Park, and the house is used for the administrative offices for park employees. It looks brown and drab and not at all Blandings-like. They decide to build on the land instead, but they’re shocked to learn the new house they want to build will cost $12,500.
If anyone is interested, I’d be happy to copy the list into a message here. I happen to have a list of all the cities where these replica “Blandings” homes were built. It’s printed in the July, 1948 issue of American Builder magazine, which I happen to collect.

An episode of the 1950s television anthology series Stage 7, titled The Hayfield, aired on September 18, 1955, and was based on the Blandings characters. In the episode, Mr. Blandings attempts to clear a hayfield on his property by burning it off, with predictably disastrous results. John Connor lives with his foster parents at this house in Canoga Park. It isn’t the most glamorous or stunning house to visit but for fans of the movie, it can still be fun to see.
I visited the Hollyhock House in February of 2020 right before things got crazy with COVID-19. Thanks to a lecture series that was happening I was able to get visit this amazing home for free. Docents were placed throughout the home to offer insight but it was nice to get to walk around on our own.
It’s quite fortunate that Grant and Loy are such an amusing onscreen couple, and that the script is overflowing with humorous dialogue. North of Long Beach in San Pedro you can find the spot that was used for the school Anchor Beach on the series which you can read about in this post. This house is within walking distance from Fox Studios where the show was filmed so that worked out well for them. You cannot see the Boy Meets World house from the street. There are bushes providing a barrier between the home and the street. I was able to walk up to the gate to get a picture. Luckily the family wasn’t spending time in the yard.
The book begins in fictional Landsdale County, Connecticut, where Jim and Muriel Blandings are being shown an old farmhouse by a real estate agent. Blandings, a successful New York advertising executive, and his wife want to leave their tiny Midtown apartment, where they live with their two daughters. They fantasize that the farmhouse will meet their needs.
We drove down a long lane, past hikers and campers and surrounded by beautiful mountain landscapes, until we came to a dead end. And there stood Mr. Blandings’ fictional dream house. As you can see, a lot has changed in the past 66 years.
